Plastics Recovery

In the photo below is a plastics recovery facility at a waste transfer station in a rural community in South Australia. This has been operating since 2007.

It is simple and effective. Various grades of plastic are placed in the bales by the public. The bales are then transported to Adelaide for recycling of the various materials.

The shipping container is used for storage of bundled paper for recycling.

This type of facility is simple and low cost and would be suitable for neighbourhoods and small rural communities.

Waste plastics are a huge problem in the environment, so every effort needs to be made to capture and recycle as much as possible.
